can you not price every part up so it's easyier to make comparisons to retail price parts?

You can compare the total price for the PC when you've configured it which should give you a good idea.

I have looked on different companies sites and gotta say this place is probably the best yet with low prices and service.

From what I've figured out from sniffing about online, you could buy all the bits for a PC and build it yourself for only marginally less of what PCS will do it for. And I'd rather have my PC built by a team of experts than do it myself :p

...and don't forget the great aftersales support. Would you want to build it yourself and then spend time on a premium cost phone call trying to get help for a suspected graphics card problem (for example) and then find out it's not the graphics card..oh hum...better phone the CPU people (can you even do that?).

Personally speaking, the 0844 support number was a big part of my decision to use PCS (I did have to call once and felt a lot happier about spending time on the phone knowing it wasn't costing me an arm and a leg) and what I read on the forum was another.

Similar thing with my choice of ISP, after spending hours on the phone with a well known provider paying premium rates and not getting my problem resolved (that's foreign call centre staff reading from scripts and not really understanding what your on about for you), I finally moved to a provider with a UK call centre (local rate) and not tied to a contract, just one month notice to change. A bit more expensive than some out there, but at least I stay connected....sorry, going on a bit :)

Not everything has prices next to the parts because the prices change so frequently that it wouldn't be worth doing, it'd be more trouble than its worth to keep it up to date.

There have been numerous threads on the same subject, one of the ones I found: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?52-Suggestion-Pricing

Ah they say it's impossible.. but I find it hard to believe that as you can always see the total price, which must be built up from all the individual prices of the components..) so i'm 99.99999% sure they just don't want to advertise there prices for each part

btw
this suggestion isn't about the cons and pro's of building your own computer vs PCS doing it.. it's about implenting the infomation to see the price of components but someone's already thought of this, but still just to reopen the topic I would like to ask PCS why it's impossible, I mean it has to be 'scripting wise' possible because 'as you can always see the total price, which must be built up from all the individual prices of the components..'

It's impossible because we do not have a set price for some components, the overall price is calculated based on the total specification, estimated build time, size, and other factors, and therefore without adding all the ingredients to the cake, we can't tell you the outcome.

Same

btw PCS, so it is possible if you wanted to share them factor's then as you can always change the components price without a page reload so I don't see the problem. The price is always the 'total amount' it says on the page and you don't change the quote afterwards to take them factors into account.

As above :) - also, it would mean that every time the part changed from the supplier we would have to manually update the website, they change hourly just so you know :)

I don't buy it..

You're basically saying prices of components may vary, but by saying: adding what each individual component is going to cost you on that specific order is impossible, is a lie..

as you obviously have a price structure because if not you WOULDN'T have a automated total price..

you would first taking into account these impossible to put on a webpage pieces of infomation then email a quote.....

I appreciate your comments, but I am not lying to you. As a company looking to help as many customers as possible, and provide the best service, it is in our interest to be as open and up-front as possible and if we could display the price of each individual component we would. However, depending on what has been configured in the computer, the price of an individual component can and will change, and therefore if we stated to a customer that a 500GB hard drive was £30 for example, but then once it was configured it was actually £36, then we would confuse our customers.

As it stands, the only pricing displayed is the total price, and any fixed individual prices are the displayed in brackets next to each product.

:)
