PC arrived with lose badly fit I/O pannel

So my pc came last week but the i/o shield must have come lose in transit. I have managed to get it into place so i can use it into place so I can use all the sockets ok. It still not properly in place though, it bend's in at the top when pressure is placed on it so if i unplug/plug my key board it putting pressure on top corner of mother board and making it bend slightly. I take it the panel is put in before the mother board so would i have to take that out to get it to click in properly? Outer than that my machine is running fine.
Will my machine be ok as it is and will it be more hassle than its worth?

Hello there Solarwind,

Would you be able to take a picture of the backplate so we can see the affects?

I Dont have a way to put pictures online at the moment. But i don't think you would be able to tell much in a pic apart from a very small gap at top of cover were its not clicked into place You would be able to see what I ment more from physically touching it it kind of moves or wobble more at top like it a lose fit. When it first came it was totally out of place about a half to one side. This is what I have been able to do my self to try to click it properly into place, although I cant put even pressure on it as components are in the way. so I have manage to get half of it to click in it but the other half is still bit lose.

This is worrying, as its the third post of its kind.

All of which are different situations, with different PCs, with different issues :)

Lots of positive ones too (there actually is A LOT of reviews on the forums where people post about how pleased they are...there's even a whole section for it! :) )

Agreed. To all those lurking here (as I did at first) trying to get a feel for PCS's quality, remember that these fora are not representative of the PCS customer base as a whole. The overwhelming majority of posts on here are from those tiny few with problems. The massive majority who have no problems at all rarely post on here, they're having to much fun with their new laptops/PCs!

:)

I cant see how if it was put in properly it would have come out in transit in first place. These thing are like a snug spring fit and once there in its relay hard to get them out again (I know because I tried to get one out before with an old pc ) must have had hell of amount of force on it to jar it free and if that was the case it would have totally nakard my pc.
Back to my original question is it just best to leave it as it is now? would you have to take out the whole mother board to put the I/O panel in properly?

I didn't join the forums until after ordering my second PCS rig, six years after ordering my first which backs up your point. Of course I've bought a third rig as well and haven't a single problem problem with any of them. I think problem posts stand out more and seem more frequent because, as you say, not many people who have ordered through PCS come on here to say 'Got my new rig today, the I/O panel fits perfectly!' or 'Love my new rig, I love how the power button presses in!'. But of course if the opposite happens then people will post to ask for assistance and/or guidance, and sometimes to complain and berate the company.

While customers have every right to post on here with the their problems, they're from being an accurate indicator of the satisfaction of the demographic.

yes you will have to take out the motherboard if you want to try fitting it properly. It will involve a significant amount of work and learning if your not into computers. If your able to plug into all the ports then its probably fine, personally I would probably do it but I like nothing better than digging about inside a PC. I realise some others have better things to be doing :)

If you want to see the work involved, look up youtube for a motherboard installation video. it's not hard but will require some research if you plan to do it yourself.

I dont know if it will affect your warranty, but if it works just leave it and if you go on holiday or something just sent it back then.

Ah ok unlike you I would rather not risk taking my PC apart to fix what seems to be a minor irritation :stuart:. My rigs been working fine now for a week and apart from this im happy with it. I can use all the sockets ok. I have looked around the area and every thing else looks fine and in place properly.

Good good, if everything is working then your safe enough to leave it alone.

Enjoy your machine.
