PC Delivered today, but slight issue

Hi everyone,

I received my PC today, I have been very impressed with the service given by PC Specialist but I've been slightly dissapointed today when unboxing the PC.

I had my system built inside a 'Coolermaster Storm Trooper' and I have to say its a really nice case in the flesh very impressive.

However I asked PC Specialist to move the Fan/HDD bays from the default side position to the front so that air flows through the case rather than just straight out the other side, but after unboxing today I have discovered that they haven't done this, so clearly the production team missed the note even though I clearly added this note to my order over the phone.

Other than this problem though the system looks great and its been built really well.

So this is a question I just want to put out there.

Do you think that having the fans left in the side (default position) will affect the cooling of the components? As effectively there are no case fans now blowing air across the components. All you have are the large exhaust fan in the top and the slightly smaller rear fan pulling air away.

Will this be sufficent?

Thanks for any replies.

You could always move the fan yourself if you'd prefer it at the front? Or mount additional fans at the front (if your motherboard has the connections etc.).
I'm not all that familiar with the stormtrooper besides the pics that PCS has on their website (and coolermaster) do you mean the fan that is mounted towards the front of the case? If its the one I'm thinking of its essentially an intake fan sucking cooler air into your PC.

There are many schools of thought about air cooling and this may end up starting an unnecessary debate but some people would suggest its better to get hot air out of your system than to get cooler air into it. The reasoning behind this I would imagine is because if you have slight negative pressure inside the case it will be 'sucking' air in quite happily on its own.

Unless you have exceptionally high performance parts constantly running at full power I cant imagine there being a cooling issue with your rig in any event :)

If you get a chance you should chuck some pics up in the show off your pc thread :)

If im totally honest.. it won't make that much of a difference. Probably keeping dust out your pc though! :p

I have basically 3 fans near my 670 blowing air at it, and i probably only see a degree or two change when i stick them on full whack. I usually just leave mine at a steady pace all the time, to keep down noise :)

Hi Steaky, yes there are two fans which are currently side mounted and double as the drive bays and can be rotated to the front or kept at the side with thumb screws.I imagine the two exhaust fans will draw air from those two fans at the front even though they are blowing air side to side. I have considered rotating them myself. Although it looks a little daunting. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Thanks again for both replies on the issue. I did see your posts yesterday and should of posted sooner. After setting up the system now I think regardless of whether the fans have been rotated to the front or not all of the fans are currently producing arctic air so I think the cooling shouldn't be a problem.

However I do still find it strange that although my order on the 'Account' page states that the requested task was completed it actually isn't so theres not alot I can say really..

But in conclusion I am very pleased with what PCS have produced and the system looks and runs fantastic!

Thanks

Yeah that is a bit strange that they've accepted the note and forgot (essentially?) to change the orientation of the fans. Must have been lost in translation so to speak between the online system and the building table.

Still, its good you're finding it cool inside the case :) Good times. Enjoy!!
