Going to buy a gaming pc around xmas time just planning ahead on what i want really, this is what i am thinking so far. Monitor i am using is Asus VG248QE 144hz monitor. games i mostly play at the moment are H1Z1/Fortnite Black ops 4 etc. any advice etc be appriciated. i would prefer Intel CPU over AMD. but i am also undecided over the i7 9700k or the 8700k. I also decided on Sata SSD, because from all research the loading times on games is not much different.

Budget is around £1700

There may not be massive differences in game load times (though for me, any wait is too long when I want to game!), but think about tge general gains in responsiveness from having your operating system on a faster m.2 NVMe.

9700k. Unless the price difference is huge, what on earth is the point of pinching pennies when buying a ~£400 CPU.

I'd go with a better quality PSU that will be quieter, more efficient, and modular

Unless it's for aesthetics there's not really much point to the cheap AIO cooler

RTX 2070 is very expensive. It's ultimately a GTX 1080 with RTX features that are of questionable merit at best. The 1070 ti offers similar performance, certainly more than enough for 1080p gaming, and is over £100 cheaper.

Thanks for your advice, was looking into the differences in fps in games through 1070ti/1080/rtx 2070. and there was not much of a diffrence more went for the GTX 2070 to try future proof maybe a little longer. but if from what your saying its just a gtx 1080 with rtx featurs might be worth getting the 1070ti and just upgrading in the future.

I think the 1070 ti is the smarter play given the pricing. Maybe RTX features will take off, maybe they won't. If they don't, that's ~£120 wasted. If they do, future generations of GPU with more mature tech should handle them much better, which makes the RTX 2070 futureproofness somewhat questionable anyway.

I agree. Do you think its worth upgrading the cpu to the i9 9900k, or stick with the i7 9700k? I9 9900k is kind of pricey, but with the 100 saving on GPU.

It's pricey and offers almost no advantage in gaming over the 9700k. The 9700k is already a very upmarket gaming CPU.
