PC gaming controller

Hi all

Just wondering how many people use a controller when it comes to PC gaming for games like Witcher or Dark Souls?

Also which one do you use?

Does it have to be a specific type to be compatible with Windows 10?

Thanks

At the moment I have a Logitech Chillstream form yesteryear, great for Racing games as the built in fan keeps my hands cool.
I use it for WWE, Fifa, Racing and when I use my TV and sit on sofa I browse Steam for the controller games to play. Although it is USB wired so I need an extension to play it on sofa so have a cable going across the room.

Now though, well today I should have a Microsoft USB receiver for my PC arriving so I can use my 360 or Xbone controllers with my PC wireless. Upto 4 controllers, so will be using that from now on.

I used Mouse/KB when playing the Witcher but use XBox360 controller for games like Assassin's Creed, X52 Pro for flight sims and a G25 for driving/racing games.

I use a DS4 (Playstation 4) controller for everything unless it doesn't have controller support.
You can use a Playstation 3 or 4 controller for PC games using the appropriate free software.

Thanks guys! You have all helped inform my decision.

Out of interest, do people prefer games such as GTAV, Dark Souls and Mortal Kombat with a controller or K&M?

I tried this and could not get the wireless working, it connected but none of the buttons worked. I did make a post on this on these forums and after a bump no one replied so I just bought a wireless receiver. Would prefer a PS style pad though.

I wholeheartedly recommend a wired Xbox 360 controller - they are currently at an affordable price. If you prefer a wireless solution, Microsoft have just announced a wireless adapter for the Xbox ONE controller.

A lot of games support the Xbox controllers and they are essentially a plug n play device - they are the perfect accompaniment to a gaming PC for those platformers.

I used a wired xbox 360 controller and it was fine. I've now moved to a wireless xbox one controller that I plug in, only because I got it with my xbox one :)

I couldn't get my PS3 controller to work wirelessly (haven't tried that with my DS4), but for me it is no problem to have my controller wired.
