PC Hesitates & Fan always at full speed

Hello, my PC has taken to hesitating for a second now & then.

This can happen whilst downloading from the net, typing, scrolling, just about anything.

Windows 7 fully updated.

Also the fans run at full speed - I use Speedfan to slow them to around 50% which keeps the temperature ok.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Try running chkdisk. If your system is encountering a bad block, it could cause this pause.

Just go into 'Computer',
Right click on your system disk, go to 'Properties'
Click on the 'Tools' Tab
Under 'Error-Checking', click on the 'Check Now'
Make sure you check the 'Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors' option.

Go make a coffee because this will take a while.

When that is done, make sure you check other drives also.

Then you will need to check in your system logs to check for any errors found.

On second thoughts, I've just noticed that from your spec that you have a Wireless 108Mbps network card. Try removing this and see if the problem magically goes away.

Hello Gibbs & thanks for your help.

Tried your first suggestion & defragged - but no change.

Re; the wireless network card - could it be switched off rather than physically removed? How could I do this?

Thanks

Mike

For the fan speeds you would be better ensuring that Q-Fan is enables for CPU and chassis in the BIOS. This is normally located under Power/Hardware Monitor. Make sure you set the profile to either silent or standard and then press F10 to save and exit the system will go off and then come back on. Once it comes back on you should hear a noticable difference in the fans.
