PCS R 290X Make

Hello,

I made an order for a machine and I have emailed PCS in regards to the make of the graphic card, their support staff are excellent and they have been emailing me back promptly.

I am told that the Graphic Card is the one below, I have read some reviews and it looks like its an older model with the referenced design that has just been over clocked. Upon further searches some online stores say that this particular model has been discontinued.

My concern is that if this is exactly like the referenced design that has been over-clocked and as per the reviews then it is going to be hot and noisy, the manufacturer has not changed anything but over clock it...

Does anyone have any opinion on this?

Does anyone have this make of the r290x?

Am I wrong here? please advice

Thanks,

If PCS told you that is what you may get then that is what you may get. If you are concerned with heat and noise why not choosing a different gpu?

Hi Keynes,

Its not about choosing a different GPU as the one I want is the 290x, I had a email from PCS saying that they just checked their support logs and have not had any complaints about noise or overheating. I think I will trust their judgement and hope for the best.

Thanks,

Reviews online on the reference r9-290x indicate high noise and temps. It doesn't mean it malfunctions so maybe that's why there are any complaints. Is it a price factor the reason for the r9-290x?
