Can anyone please help? I purchased my daughter a PC specialist gaming PC the other day. (Pic below of the one she has). It Says it’s great for things like fortnite on the description etc and excellent graphics. However, my daughter said this isn’t the case at all. This is the first gaming PC my daughter has had and I don’t have a clue lol.

She set it all up last night, she said the graphics on fornite are shockingly bad (she has a hp omen gaming monitor which is a good monitor) she said It’s only running on a low setting at 60fps and the low setting makes her game look bad and if she goes medium or higher it’s blurry and 30fps and below.

The specs description states that it’s medium to high settings. She has used a fast HD wire to connect from PC to monitor. Have we done something wrong when setting it up or is it just a rubbish gaming PC. Really disappointed for her after I spent £579 on it.

Unfortunately, it’s not a good gaming PC. It uses integrated graphics rather than having a dedicated GPU so it’ll only be capable of half decent output at 720p. I imagine the monitor she has is 1080p so it’s simply not going to be capable. Are you able to return it?

Not sure if I'm looking at a different listing but I can't find any reference to specific games, there's a general statement about it being suitable for 720p gaming on popular esports titles.

You could try to turn down the resolution on the monitor (depending on its type) and see if that improves performance.

Unfortunately integrated graphics (which is what the Vega Graphics this PC has are) are not going to cut it at 1440p

Thanks for your help. Would this be the case for every game she plays? Sorry it was one of the technical staff in Currys that said it’s great for fortnite I thought it was on the specs. ( I got it from Very though and showed the worker in Currys afterwards)

I guess we could return it but on a single parent budget I wouldn’t be able to afford anymore and that was the cheapest one they had on very.

is there no way at all she can improve it without returning?

Unfortunately you are at the mercy of the budget. The Fortnight of yesteryear would have played reasonably with such a system but unfortunately it's really not a good gaming rig at all.

Again, I know you won't want to hear this either but nowadays you need around £1000 for a good system. You can cut some corners/luxuries to get to the £850-£900 mark but anything less than that just simply isn't worthwhile IMO. It will always be diminishing returns as when you want to upgrade you will be starting from scratch.

This is from a couple of months back and I'm in the middle of a re-write but it should give an idea of the logic and reasoning behind what I'm saying.

For a budget of £500 you simply cannot beat a console. Either of the latest and greatest from Xbox or PS will make any sub £1000 PC look very silly.

I would go back to Curry's and tell them it was mis sold to you and don't take any crap from them. (oh, missed the bit about Very)
As above, returning and buying a console would be the best bet.
But
to play fortnite it can be saved by buying a 1050ti 4gb separate graphics card for around £140. (or a 1650 if it can be found) It is easy to install, really easy. That is your only viable option if you are going to keep it. I can't see the whole spec but that would make a massive improvement and viable to play at 60 fps.

Will his power supply support the external graphics?
