So here is the situation: im hoping i can wait a bit more, like for the gtx 960m or more money so i can get the 970m, but in case i can't
i live in spain, summer--> 40-45ºC
i have traveled to saudi arabia, and it's probable i have to travel there again, and yes, in summer-->40-50ºC
so as you can imagine, heat IS a real problem for me
my conflict lies in if the optimus will be able to cope with heavy use without a stand as the vortex probably will

im still considering the better thermal paste as i have my own
so, everything said, let the opinion games begin

What sort of heavy use? Regardless of the model you choose I would always suggest using a laptop cooler when gaming

mainly gaming but also some heavy cpu/gpu programs, the main point is: in case i dont have a cooling stand, which of these do you think will cope better with heat? my bet is on the vortex but considering the optimus is pretty optimized and a maxwell gpu, but still

my main concern is temps, hardware wise i wont touch the config, i just need opinions on which of this 2 will handle better the temps with this configurations

Not sure but doesn't the Optimus just have one fan for the cpu/gpu and the Vortex have 2 fans, 1 each for the cpu/gpu? If that's the case I would imagine the Vortex would be better with handling heat.

nobody that can say which one handles better heat?

I would always use the vortex with a laptop cooler when gaming. For general use I don't bother with one but when attempting to play games without one during the summer I was getting high temps with one, mainly due to a flat surface and obstructing the vents

obviously i would use it with stand when i can BUT traveling with a cooling stand sometimes is not an option, so i would have to lower some settings to play, so it would come to which laptop would manage better the heat WITHOUT a cooling stand

you would think that obviously the vortex as it has 2 fans, but i have seen cases where the 1 fan configuration has a better heatsink and heat management design, being better over the 2 fan option

so in this case, optimus or vortex? if anyone had numbers that would be awesome

I get what you mean but I would think it is difficult to give some representative readings on temps since it requires someone having the Optimus and vortex and monitor at the same settings and conditions, maybe PCS could help you with that. I only have the vortex and it has shut down when gaming due to high temps as described in my previous comment, I have to travel around 4 times a year and got a thin and compact coolermaster cooler for those situations.

is there a good coolermaster for 15.6"? that would be awesome, the only one PCS offer is the notepal, which is really good, but it is for 17" which is too big for me to travel with
