Hey guys.

Previously I've poseted about a good gaming pc for £1500 and was recommended to get the ultima x-01. I think its a very good pc but im just wondering about the future upgrades.

I've read the review and it is mentioned that it's not overcloaked, and somehow it sounds like it is a bad thing. So, in the future can i overcloak it when i need? And do i need to do it muself or i can ask pcspecialist to do it?

Also i want to know available extra spaces if i want to add more ram, hard disc(since 1tb might get full with all those games) or anything else.

Lastly, (this is not about upgrade) i have to download the os on the sdd right? I was asked when im about to buy it so just want to confirm.

Thank you

It's not a bad thing that isn't not overclocked. Overclocking means making something run faster than it's default speeds, often by increasing voltage - temperatures also tend to increase as well.

I can't speak for the tech journalist that wrote the article, but I would guess they say it's a 'bad' thing only because PCS have included lots of high end hardware like a gold-rated PSU, high end mobo, unlocked CPU, and very high end CPU cooler which is all the necessary things for having an overclock. So I think they're saying PCS missed a trick, rather than it being a real problem for performance.

In real terms though, an overclock makes little difference to gaming performance in most titles.

It is however something you can do yourself easily. Many otherboards actually do an automatic overclock with their BIOS or bundled software. It's also quite easy to overclock yourself manually, if you follow some guides and read up in advance :)

I wouldn't recommend you overclock the Ultima when you get it, if overclocking is not something you're already familiar with. The performance should be excellent at stock speeds. You can look into overclocking in the months and years down the line if you decide you want to.

Also i want to know available extra spaces if i want to add more ram, hard disc(since 1tb might get full with all those games) or anything else.
The motherboard has 4 slots for RAM. The PC comes with 2x8gb sticks of RAM. So there are 2 vacant for upgrades. However, for gaming you won't need more than 16gb.

The motherboard has 2 M.2 slots, which are both capable of supporting PCIe NVMe SSDs. One has the WD Black SSD in it, so you have another one free for future upgrades.

It also has 4 Sata ports. 1 is occupied by the WD Black HDD. Leaving you room for upto 3 Sata devices (SSDs or HDDs) in the future. There is room for upto 3 HDDs in total in the case I believe.

The PSU is 650W so should support a wide range of future graphics cards upgrades.

If you mean where you click Proceed and it says:
We note that you have selected an SSD drive and a mechanical hard drive under the primary hard disk drive option. Please confirm whether you would like your operating system (OS) to be installed on the SSD drive or on the mechanical hard drive:
Install the OS on the M.2 / OR / mSATA SSDInstall the OS on the mechanical hard drive (not recommended)
Then yes, you want it on the SSD.
