Power issues.

Hey guys.

Basically, on Saturday, my video card seemed to die. Turned purple and refused to boot with it installed. No problem, got a new one sent out to me yesterday. Should arrive in about 3 hours.

Anyhoo, today after moving house my PC does some random things power wise. It will either get to the 'Starting Windows' screen and shut down, and when it boots, tell me it had a surge warning and protected itself, or it just randomly re-starts whenever it feels like it, or just won't boot at all.

The things that may have caused it:

1) The move may have knocked something - but I've made sure everything is still in place.
2) USB Pins crossing and that seems fine.
3) I've removed my graphics card (to return) so it's currently outputting through on-board with HDMI.

Any suggestions? Specs as follows.

That sounds like it could be power surges/drops from your power supply (note, this are just my thoughts, could be wrong)

Have you got a surge protector plug thing anywhere you could use for a bit and see if the surge warnings disappear, just incase its a problem with the power socket on your wall, I say this cos if you've just moved house, this could be why it's just started happening since you moved.
Edit: or try a different plug socket.

It was already plugged into a surge protector. As soon as I installed my new graphics card, seemed to work fine again...Odd.

your name sounds familiar.

I use it everywhere. PSU, Neogaf, PSN, Steam other random places. `
