Pre Order - Can we get any clues ?

Have just ordered a new PC and understand there is clearly shortages of AMD 6800 and Ryzen 5 and these are flagged as pre-order.

But there is no information on potential wait times, unless I am missing something ? So I could get my PC in 10 working days or 10 weeks.

Does anyone have any information on expected stock levels - surely PC Specialist should be putting 'something' out there even if it is just 'Sorry, we really do not know' - at least we know then that they do not know. Judging from wait times there is no point calling.

They really don't know.

COVID has royally screwed with many parts delivery schedules and where PCS would be confident that (say) 100 units were arriving this week and another 100 next week (and so on) so that they could accurately forecast build times, parts deliveries have been irregularly timed and with mixed volumes of parts. It certainly seems that PCS are not receiving deliveries for several components in the quantities they have ordered. It's almost impossible to produce even remotely accurate build forecasts in that environment.

It seems (because we don't know) that PCS are only sending out specific build date forecasts when they are reasonably confident they can meet them.

Unfortunately all industries have struggled with supply issues and even current stock levels. Whilst some companies returned, others kept people on furlough for as long as possible and still do.

This in turn included stockroom staff and others are having to play catch up etc so even the larger companies that were allowed to stay open, diy stores etc, have had issues with their stock systems being out of date and shown items in stock that are not and vice versa.

It all becomes a huge mess to get sorted out and I’m not saying PCS is in such a mess like this but it’s suppliers etc might be.

Sadly this year has been a terrible one and tested everyone’s patience when it comes to waiting for things.
