Question about psu

I'm looking at the following specs for a new pc but have a question about the psu. On the information table about the graphics card it mentions a minimum psu requirement of 600w and I understand that the CPU I have picked can be quite power hungry. Despite his if I select a psu above 450w pc specialist tell me that this is more than I need. Do I trust that advice or go for a 650w psu?

While the configurator should be more accurate to determine your power requirement I would still go with what the manufacturer recommends, it will also give you more room for upgrades. Are you overclocking your CPU?

The pc will actually be used by my son, who is starting a computer animation and vfx degree this month. I don't think he would be interested in overclocking. We are just looking at something which will allow him to use a wide range of software in connection with his course and interests and will last for a while. He doesn't seem to be bothered about using it for gaming but I would think if he did decide to go down that route this set up should be easily good enough for the casual gamer without the need for overclocking

If you are not overclocking the triple copper neatpipe CPU cooler will be fine for your system.

That cooler isn't compatible with the CPU I've chosen apparently. Thanks for the advice though. I think I'll play it safe and go with the 650w psu. The difference in price isn't that great anyway!
