Question/Help regarding SSD (1st Hard Disk/SSD DRIVE)

Hello, as I'm going to be purchasing a PC within January I've started to look up what I have in mind and the only issue Ive ran into is what is the difference in having an SSD for 1st hard disk and m.2 SSD Drive. I've seen a similar post on here but I didn't exactly grasp it. The point of the SSD for me is to have Windows on it, but confused what I would have the ssd for the 1st hard disk or the ssd drive? Thanks for reading and sorry if this is in the wrong section at all.

Basically the SSD's in 1st hard disk are SATA ssd's which are an old format and limited to SATA speeds of 600mb.
M2 drives are PCI-e based and can reach much higher speeds, usually around 5 or 6 times that of a SATA drive, and they cost around the same money, except for a few.

And as far as Windows is concerned an M.2 SSD looks and behaves just like an older SATA SSD.....
