Question - I7-970 with 1600MHz RAM

Quick question whilst I am still in pre-production. I've ordered an I7-970 processor with 12Gb of the DDR3 1600MHz Kingston RAM. I know that the motherboard I have chosen will support it, but I was just scouting around the deeper recesses of the net and found a site that said the I7-970 will only support RAM up to speeds of 1066MHz. Am I reading this wrong, or have I over specced needlessly?

Thats a new one on me where did you read that ? the 1600MHz ram is more for overclocking and only really noticed when doing so you should get a slight boost though and there is a proper review of it here http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010/07/19/intel-core-i7-970-review/1
