Question regarding 17,3" DEFIANCE V GT-S

Hi guys

After searching for a well balanced gaming laptop, and not being able to find exactly what i want...i end up here and i´m enjoying a lot what i´m seeing, i´m ready to pull the trigger on the Defiance 17.3 model.

On the Next Day Delivery Laptops found the 17,3" DEFIANCE V GT-S, which is pretty much the laptop i´m looking for, however i would like to go with the QHD 120 Hz (2560 × 1440), 72 % NTSC Panel.

So instead of choosing the Next Day 17,3" DEFIANCE V GT-S, because you cannot change the panel in there, i tried to configure that very same model with the QHD panel, however the price difference is huge!, even if i copy the same specs, with the FHD panel, there is still a huge price difference.

17,3" DEFIANCE V GT-S Next Day 1566€
17,3" DEFIANCE V GT-S , done on the Configurator 1709€ (143€ difference, and they are exactly the same laptop, almost 10%)
17,3" DEFIANCE V GT-S with QHD panel, on the Configurator 1766€ (57€ difference for QHD panel)

Why is this happening?, how is that there is no 17,3" DEFIANCE V GT-S with QHD for 1623€ ?

Budget is limited and my dear wife patience as well, so i really need to be careful about how much i´m spending :stuart:

This is very interesting.

I don't think it's a review spec as such as there are no current Defiance review specs. My understanding is that PCS's review specs carry a discount because they're high profile, advertised specs and often seem to have some kind of 'sponsorship' or deal with certain component makers e.g. Corsair or WD. Perhaps the Next Day specs do too? Maybe they're advertised in print magazines that we don't see on the internet.

Traditionally the Next Day PCs have been more expensive than manually configured specs.

The Vyper Next Day spec is almost £40 more expensive than the same spec manually configured for example.

But as you say, the Next Day Defiance is cheaper https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers-for-next-day-delivery/802/ (£1349 vs £1453 for a manual spec).
Same is true of that 17" Optimus.

Next Day laptops are prebuilt, ready to ship immediately, so obviously you cannot change the spec. Because PCS already built them. There are hundreds of different component configurations possible (e.g. you want a QHD screen, someone else would want a bigger SSD, 32gb RAM, a secondary drive, etc). PCS only offer 1 or 2 - at most - spec choices per chassis.

It is possible that these specs were drawn up and built before a recent increase in component prices. So the Defiance is at an older, 'frozen' price while stocks last, and once they have sold their last Defiance GT-S they they will do a new spec with a revised price based on the costs at the time, which will be higher.

I'm speculating here. If you really want to know why they're so cheap you can ask PCS.

But you're not going to get a next-day Defiance with the QHD panel for only 1566€, because that would be a custom spec rather than the pre-built options.
