Quick bit of advice needed

Hi everyone,

I made my order a few days ago and it looks like it's moving along nicely. Has already made it to pre-production but to the point of this post.....

I've just had a read through tom-gr7's post on PCI and PCI - E on this section of the forum and I'm now contemplating whether to change my wireless card from PCI - E back to standard PCI.

The motherboard I selected is the 'Asus p8z77-v lx'.

So really my question is with regard to the way the PCI slots are laid out on this motherboard which would be the best slot to use for the network card PCI or PCI - E?

I just wanted to change this if needs be before my system moves to the building phase.

Thanks.

Ok thanks alot. I'm sticking with the single GPU so I'll leave it alone.

I saw someone elses post a few weeks back, and it's true what they said. It is extremely tempting to tweak your order while you wait :)

personally i'd for PCI slot, incase you want to add a soundcard in pci-e slot in the future.

But on other notes, have you considered homeplugs? they send the internet through ya house wiring giving you a constant booming "wired" connection. with no wifi related drop outs.

my wifi used to drop out all the time, whenever the phone rang or the microwave was used -.-

In the end I did take your advice and changed to the PCI wireless card. And added a 'ASUS xonar DXG'. I did a bit of reading up on the advantages of a dedicated sound card over the on-board and it looks like its worth it :)

Thanks for the advice

Random fact, this is because they both operate on the ~2.4GHz frequencies. New mobiles and routers however will support using both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, with the latter having and causing much less interference.
