Random Internet Disconnecting

Hey guys I'm starting to have disconnecting problems when playing online games. At first I thought it was server problems on their end but it seems it must be my internet. I have sky broadband, when the internet light is green, I'm connected. When it's orange there's no connection. Whiles playing an online game everything is fine until the game stops, when I look at the router I can see it's randomly disconnecting (flashing orange) and then an in game pop up with error message. The weird thing is that when im back to main menu it turns green again. What is the problem? I heard it could be that firewall has a lock on lan connections or anti virus software related?

It worked fine when I was playing it for the first few times but now I'm starting to get disconnected most of the time. I was thinking about getting a wireless network adapter?

i have a similar problem, but it only happens on an off for a month or so. Aparently a line fault BT refuses to fix until december.

Yup, happened to me, internal wiring nearly always the fault, had to get an engineer to come in again last week to sort it out, now im nearly back in business with speeds I used to get. Anything can start to interefere with ADSL broadband, telephone, water in your outside telephone socket. Anything.

But could it be something to do with my firewall? I heard about it can lock your internet connection.

Mmmm unlikely, unless you did some seriously bad port forwarding, or you put your computer into a DMZ with your router in which case a simple router restart should unlock the DMZ (usually when you turn DMZ off in teh router its still not 100% off).

I haven't messed with my firewall settings but thanks for the advice though. I will contact Sky later on.
