Could you please have a look over this spec. I have tweaked my original plan a little regarding storage, case, power supply and fans.
Some reasons why I am going for the spec as it are:
* The beast will be on a desk only 18" from my head at ear height! I have chosen the Fractal Define which Scott rated as a good quality and quiet case, and I hope the 7 Quiet will live up to its name!
* My current 5+yr old machine has a 256GB SSD system drive and I rapidly became a fan of SSD. I was set on putting in a fast M2 system drive, and then made the (expensive) decision to make the whole machine SSD. Therefore I have a set-up of a pair of 2Tb Firecuda’s in the M2 PCIe 4.0 slots on the motherboard, and then decided to add 2Tb of the Samsung 860 QVO instead of a larger HDD. I did look at 4Tb of that memory but its c.£400.
* The processor is a bit over the top but I always want to have a bit more grunt as I did with my current machine. Likewise the 32Gb of memory. In the bigger scheme of things the extra 16Gb is not expensive. I have used 16Gb for a long while and it seems to occasionally struggle – probably because I often have a large number of programs open at the same time.
*As I won’t be doing much if any gaming above 1080 and nothing demanding I have kept the graphics cards fairly basic. I did look at the 1660Super but for my use I don’t think it will be worthwhile. ,
* Because of the use of the machine I am not adding any further fans and taking Scott’s advice I will depend on the Wraith attached.
I hope this gives a bit of additional info as to the thinking behind this spec but your thoughts will be much more insightful.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
