As per the title,

MY recoil II RTX (2070) has just this moment arrived!

First impressions, breathtaking...

Whoever instilled the fear of the keyboard into people was so, so wrong.. I highly doubted it and planned on using an external keyboard but the built in mechanical keyboard is the best that I have felt to this day.

I will be updating this thread with my spec and experience in the coming days, so any questions please ask!

Very nice!! Can you post some pictures please? Specially if you have a 15 inch laptop on side to compare the size! As I'm afraid if 17 inch is to big for me, but because the bezels are so small maybe i will like! Right now I'm stuck because the 15 inch only as 2060, or 2070maxQ:( . And the max q is like an 2060.. i dont understand why do they even sell this laptop with an 2060 or 2070maxq.. Thanks!! also do what do you think about the noice of the keyboard, is it to loud??

Very new the forums so not too sure about posting pictures, however I'm sure that it's the same chassis they used on the 10 series generation... The bezels aren't just small, they're almost non existant and the entire display is just screen! Compared to my old gaming laptop (lenovo y700 17-isk) this thing is considerably tiny.

Yes, the maxQ is a let down unfortunately and not worth the investment IMO as I'm sure they cost a little more to begin with...

The keyboard noise is extremely satisfying to me, I seriously don't understand all of the complaints about this keyboard it's genuinely 9/10 in my opinion.

Good to hear positive feedback,

Keyboards are pretty subjective imo and the Recoil 2 seems to really please or really dissapoint. From what I've heard its right up my street tho!

If it's easiest for pics, you could always just link to an imgur album or similar.

But you can post pics by just using the Insert Image function which inserts a thumbnail of an image that people can click on to see a bigger size one. Pics always appreciated by the community (as well as benchmarks and thermals, comments on noise, and literally anything else you might find the time for) :)

I'll have to look into pics although I'm convinced that the chassis is the same as the last Recoil II!

Any recommended systems for benchmarks? I've yet to do any but I've been playing modern titles at everything extreme / ultra with experimental features on and getting 100+ FPS whilst the CPU and GPU aren't spiking above 75C atm... Been playing for 3 hours in total now.

In terms of noise, I'm sat next to the mrs whilst she's watching her shows on tv and has not complained once! I've tried the fans on turbo and it's like a jet! (To be expected). It's not had any reason to use turbo by default in 3 hours of gaming so I'm pretty impressed with general performance but benchmarks will tell all!

Oh, those temps are playing on my lap in bed btw so I'm very impressed, I will be using a cooling pad on a table in normal use situations.

Speakers are to be expected as from a laptop, for gaming it's perfect. Nothing to rave about although there's a surprising amount of customization available if that's your thing! I personally use headphones. :)

Thanks for the info i've been toying with either this 17" 2070 or waiting to see what the defiance V 17" 2080MaxQ is like. But it does seem crazy the defiance is likely £2,155.00 ish vs £1,816.00 for the recoil, for the 2070 vs 2080mQ and identical spec, which seems a huge premium for a thinner laptop and a tiny maybe performance boost.

One question i did have.. did you get the std 180 brick with it or did you upgrade to the 230 power brick. I've seen alot of the 2070 laptops (MSI, Gigabyte, Asus etc) seem to be shipping with 230 bricks.

When PCS sell a 'choice' of power bricks with laptops it's always because X is for GPU 1 and Y is for GPU 2. It's not actually a choice.

Try ordering with the 'wrong' one and you'll see the configurator says either:

it's not a choice, it's only there to tell you the wattage and to let you buy more than 1 (e.g. a charger for home and a charger for work)

As per mods reply, PCS know their stuff and although it appears as an option, they do not ship this GPU with a 180 brick. It gives you an error code at checkout and makes you swap the brick out for a more powerful option. :)

Just an update on my system - massively impressed... I've been playing games with Super sampling Anti-Aliasing (doubles the resolution of games so 4k) on demanding titles and it performs with ease, laughing along the way and the GPU barely rising above 75 Celsius!

The CPU has been hitting 85 Celsius under excessive load after 6 hours of gameplay which is to be expected for an i8750h, tempted to undervolt but don't want to affect my warranty in any way shape or form. As far as I'm aware, that's safe running temperature considering it's in a laptop!

Couldn't be happier with my Recoil II RTX (2070), the customer service has been great and the system was ordered on Thursday evening and arrived on a Tuesday, bearing in mind these guys don't do weekend shifts and it was snowing outside that's a 3 day build and delivery. Outstanding! (I did pay premiums for build).

If there's any questions please ask, I will be updating this as time goes on.

I'd be interested in some 3D Mark graphics scores? I have my Recoil II RTX 2070 on order and I'm moving across from a 1070Ti / Ryzen 5 2600 desktop PC which with the 1070Ti overclocked, to near GTX1080 speeds, gets the following:

Firestrike GFX Score: 21679
Firestrike Ultra GFX Score: 5188
Time Spy GFX Score: 7523

From the few 2070 laptop review benchmarks out there, my understanding is that it should get near to those scores. Hoping not to take too much of a performance hit for the sake of portability, but I'm expecting a little at least.

Other interesting info would be what frequencies the CPU and GPU run at when at those temps and under benchmark / gaming loads. (i.e, are those temps maintained by the GPU dropping its clocks quite a bit, and also the laptops are so new there might not be much data in general on what clocks they really run at).

I can't remember if Firestrike shows that on the screen or not, but if not and for games, something free like MSI Afterburner can be used.

But only if you have the time :)

Hey Jack, happy to see you're enjoying the Recoil. Anychance of giving me the power draw of the 2070 under load? Just run Firestrike or TimeSpy in windowed mode with GPU-Z open snd gpu-z monitors gpu power draw in watts, it will show. You can also use HWinfo it also shows GPU power draw
