Hi,

So I bought a Recoil III GTX in July 2019. It worked fine up until early this year when the screen randomly went dim all of a sudden. Temps also run as high as 90 degrees when sitting idle. I spoke to PC Specialist and they said I should request an RMA so I did. I sent the laptop in and they said that the issues are due to a faulty motherboard and that it would cost £643 to fix. As I'm out of my 1 year parts warranty, they expect me to pay that in order to fix it. Honestly, this seems a bit mental, no? Laptops shouldn't die after less than 2 years of general use. I don't even game on it that often. I already spent £1200~ on this machine and don't see why I should need to fork out another £643 due to this faulty motherboard.

Unfortunately this is why it’s really important to have a decent warranty. Electronics can fail at any time, it really is down to luck of the component you have.

If it was operating that high it also suggests it needed a repaste which should be done every year or so to keep temps optimal.
