RGB/Corsair H100i ELITE CAPELLIX/ ICue 4 Issue?

Hi guys,

Purchased a PC from PCS back in August, Had some case problems and returned it for RMA twice, recieved PC back yesterday and for some reason there is now a new issue which was not there previously. For some reason the Corsair H100i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB and ICue 4 no longer stay connected. One minute it shows in my device list the next minute it is gone and the colour changes on the pump and fans normally to a red colour which it usually is before i boot into windows and ICue, So i have basically 7 matching fans 2 sticks of matching RGB memory and then a pump and 2 fans that dont match anything else until it reconnects and then it all matches again. It is very random and i thought it was fixed last night as it stayed the same and connected for a good few hours.

So far i have tried playing with the settings in ICue whilst the cooler is still connected to my device list in ICue which made no difference and i even done an image restore of windows which i also thought had helped but then it went back to changing colour again and disconnecting.

Have spent countless hours, days, nights trying to troubleshoot the PC for various issues and it seems that this is my last one, this is really annoying because if i can get this to work i can get on with using the thing rather than troubleshooting it and i am one of those people who dont want to use it until i have everything working as it should.

I was wondering if anyone else has had any similar issues or experiance with ICue or any of there RGBS or devices connecting and disconnecting and what the problem could be and if there is a possible fix please. I did have someone from PCS remotely loggin to the PC and he could see the issue but seemed rather baffled by it. I am hoping they will get back in contact today at some point, i really dont want to send the item back again because i recieved it on the 8th October and have not had a chance to use it for any gaming etc etc

Thanks everyone.

i have attached a few photos below of the Cooler showing in ICue and everything working and then the disconnect and the colour change.

Check the firmware is up to date on the Capellix (might be worth forcing an update) and ICUe is up to date
Check the Allen head screws on the pump head are tight (remove pump head and reinsert to make sure, not the bottom part just the part held on with the 4 black Allen screws)
Check the connection from the pump to the Commander Core is secure
Check the Commander Core to USB header are secure

Go into the Icue settings and make sure that the plugin switch is turned off, I'm guessing conflict between Icue and armoury crate

Do you do the firmware through the ICue software? I did check that everything in the list was up to date. The device has not been listed now for a while in ICue probably a few hours so not sure if i can update it through ICue. May i ask if this is the connection from the pump to the commander core? I have just put up another photo, i really know very little about these cooling systems or RGB as i have only ever had a fan cooler in the past and never any rgbs in my previous PC's. And yeah once again i wouldn't know where to look for the USB header. Im okay with the software and a basic pc but man there are some wires in the back of this case. Really confussed me Lol.

thanks for the reply.

It was switched to on and when i switched the plugin switch off all that happened was the Asus motherboard left the devices also. The pc with the same components used to work fine with the Armory Crate, all that has happened is basically they have rebuilt the pc into a new case eliminating some issues along the way. But now i have this one haha

It looks daunting but that's more because of the volume than anything, its fairly simple once you get your head around what's what.

Yes update firmware in ICUe, under the gear icon

USB comes out of the other side, its probably just dropping down to the little USB hub that looks like its installed below the Commander Core, either that or it will be into the bottom of the motherboard

Also not quite sure why the Cooler fans are not connected to the Commander core and only the RGB.

Ok, looking at those last 2 photos, something isn't right, the fans on the cooler should be connected to the fan connections on the commander core.

you'll find the USB header, on the bottom of the motherboard pretty much central

Thank for your help, once rested i shall have another look inside the case, im waiting for pc specialist to get back to me via email, we sent them the same photos at their request after they also told me to follow the large cable from the pump over the back to the right side panel. Maybe they will come back with the same kind of thing, Ill speak to them and make sure they are okay with me playing around inside, im so worried about making it worse than better and then it being my fault, i was hoping it was software but i think ive done just about everything i can do from outside of the PC. Thanks again.

Thank you so much, i was going to ask also about the rgb and fan connections on the commander, both of you guys suggested they should possibly be on the fan slots rather than the rgb. Could you let me know what the difference is between the two? Thanks, its better that i get some understanding of what these things actually do.

Thanks

Ok coming from each fan there are 2 sets of connectors one set for the fan itself and one set for the RGB on the fan, your RGB set are plugged in properly to the commander core, the ones for the fans that should be on the fan side of the commander core have been plugged in elsewhere or not plugged in at at all.

This is what a commander core looks like with a full set of fans on it

Thanks for the reply,

Just got of the phone to PCS, and he guided me through making sure the USB header was properly plugged in. It was slightly unplugged, after plugging it back in the h100i showed up straight away in ICue and seems to working okay again. So you guys were right so just wanted to say thank you. P.S i dont have room on mine for the SSD's because i have a load of these rgb commander things, i think i have 3 of them stuck where your SSD's are. Where else could i put one if i ever wanted to upgrade. I only have a 500gb Nvme on the board and then a 6tb Seagate HD for my games, im wishing i got a ssd now, i actually have one i could use in a laptop that isnt worth using anymore but i have no idea where my HDD is lol i cant see it anywhere haha. Im useless with PC's these days, the last one i built was probably nearly 18 years ago and it was very very straight forward then. Certainly not this amount of cables LOL

Glad you got all sorted, as where you could move everything to get the SSD's in if you post a photo similar to mine we might be able to help out with moving stuff about

If you only have one M.2 drive fitted your motherboard can take 2 so just fit another one

very good point, a 1TB intel 670P would do nicely and take about 5 minutes to fit
Some pretty good prices knocking around on WD SN550 at the moment, i got a 1TB one for £64, not as fast as the Intel but good enough as a second drive (actually third in my case in a PCIe adapter card)

Hey there thanks, i took one similar yesterday. Yes those M.2 drives go under the silver plate things on the x570 gaming-f i think, you have to remove a screw and a plate i believe. There is always that if i dont have room on the back.

Use M.2 on motherboard before you even consider normal 2.5" SSD, much faster and easier to install, page 2-11 here:
