Should I be going for Windows 8 instead of 7?

Well I ordered by pc before Windows 8 was released and I figured I'd prefer Windows 7 anyway so I chose to go with that. I've seen Win8 at a quick glance in PC world and thought it was a bit awkward on a laptop and stuff but I was wondering if I should be adding it to my build? I'll be using my PC on a 32inch HDTV on my wall which is making me think windows 8 could actually look quite good on it. Plus I've heard that it can deliver faster and smooth frame rates than windows 7.

So basically, both 7 + 8 are still the same price on PCS, I can 'upgrade for free' if I amend my order so I'm wondering if it's worth doing. I don't want my hardware to be outdated straight away but also I know that 8 is aimed more towards the tablet and touchscreen market and that I may have some initial problems with it if I get it straight after release.

What would you do?

i'd stick with win 7, I wont be suggesting win 8 at all! It looks crap like my xbox, no thanks!!!

I did just say to my boss that it looked like a ripped off version of the xbox dashboard! But then I figured that could actually work quite well with a mouse?

I've read that it's not as bad as people say and in the 'Check my Spec' section a lot of people seem to be opting for it so I'm wondered whether I should just take a punt on it. There's no price difference between the Win7 version I'm getting and the 64bit Win8 home edition which is what's putting me in a sticky situation x) As long as it plays the games I want it to play it surely can't be that bad? :p

I'd go for win7 and just upgrade to win8 for £14.99 before the end of January 2013.

Will I get this offer still if I'm buying through PCS? I know places like PC world offer upgrade offers but hadn't seen anything on PCS about it.

Awesome, cheers ^^ I assume I could backup my windows 7 and then reinstall it if I hated Win8?

Well you will get the retail/oem Win7 disc so no need to backup :)

As for Windows 8, I have a simple sentance I have said a few times now.

MY PC IS NOT A TABLET - So I am sticking with windows7.. tbh I would prefer Windows XP. but each to their own.
