Silent Mode on Laptop?

Is this what i hope? ie a mode that slows down fans, lower GPU & CPU speeds to make the system quieter when not in heavy use?

Or is it just a mute button

Silent mode usually slows the CPU and cuts out the fan - useful if you are watching DVDs in full screen mode or listening to CDs in the dark

Silent Mode will not lock the CPU or GPU fan to minimum speed, rather it will lock the CPU and GPU performance to a certain level so that the fans will, ideally, stay at minimum speed.
