I've yet to mod Skyrim myself so wouldn't mind knowing too. :)

Though on a related note I came across this mod the other day. Morrowind recreated in Skyrim's engine - http://morroblivion.com/ Still a work in progress.

You can install a lot of the (non-nude) mods from within Steam, but if you are buying the boxed version there's Curse and Nexus Mods available.

I'm playing this right now with a ton of mods, too many to recount without being in front of the PC.

I have used steam for my mods. I think I got carried away and used loads and loads at same time so there would be things on top of things.

I have on essential mod ( can't remember what it's called ) that adds all the crafting stations to the skyforge. And also a mod that adds glows to all collectible resources like mining and flowers/plants etc. also can't remember that one lol.

I would love an easier to use quest tracker though.

The immersive interiors mod from steam is excellent, and adds the facility to look out of building windows onto the streets below (though not implemented for every
building yet within every town) - this may seem a small point but it is so rare in an rpg that I can think of, only remember Legends of Valour on the Amiga doing it, but it adds a lot of atmosphere. Also, try enhanced distant landscapes, again from steam, and pure waters too, none of these will break anything and they do add to the game.

That immersive interiors mod sounds good, will give that one a go!

I had forgotten how much I both love and hate this game, plus I am getting a bit mod-happy and worried that I am going to spoil the experience.

It's in the workshop in steam, just search for immersive and that should find it I think. Standby whilst I check in fact ... launch Steam, click on browse the workshop from the libary page and then search for immersive interiors and you should find it.

To download mods using Steam Workshop,

Find the Mod, Click subscribe and wait for it to download and install!

(not sure if you have to launch the Skyrim launcher and then go to mods :S)
