Slow network speeds on my PC

Hi all,

I brought a desktop from PC specialist around 3 years ago now, I have always had low download speeds and struggled to game due to my high ping. I have other devices in the same room such as my Xbox which reaches much faster speeds than the PC and I never have any trouble with lag. I decided it was time to try and fix the problem, so I brought a new network card yesterday - the TP-Link AC1200 Archer T4e. It has been slower than ever and I don't know what to do anymore to fix it. I have installed the latest drivers but still have had no luck.

I'm using the speed test app made by Ookla I think? The speeds don't exceed more than 1mbps. I brought my laptop to the same location in the room and it got 541mbps.

I attached the antenna and positioned them towards the Router. I automatically installed the latest driver for my adapter, then I tried going to their website and downloading the latest one from there but still no luck.

Here are the screenshots you asked for:

It keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting the WiFi every 20 minutes roughly too.

You've got Norton installed, that's your problem I'm willing to bet, it's awful, should be uninstalled immediately.

How do I go about uninstalling that?
You have to use their uninstaller as windows can't uninstall it, it's nothing more than a virus these days. Just use Windows defender which is built in to windows, save yourself a bundle as well. Windows defender is far better at signature prevention anyway, and doesn't cripple your pc

I uninstalled it and restarted my computer but I haven't seen any differences in speeds.

Do I need to change any of these settings?

I agree with Spyder, I think a clean install of Windows 10/11 would be good. This video has a good walkthrough of the steps for a clean install of Windows. Note that this will wipe the drive you install Windows to, so make sure you back up anything important to another drive or to cloud before you start. Once you have Windows installed, run Windows Update, including Optional Updates repeatedly until not more updates are available (Don't install anything labelled with "Preview" though). Don't reinstall Norton, or any other software for that matter until Windows Updates are complete. Then run some speed tests to see how the network is preforming. If that seeems to have fixed the issue, install any apps you need. But not Norton, ever. If it hasn't fixed issue, report back here before doing anything further
