[Solved] My PC was working fine until yesterday but won't power on today

Hi I bought my PCS desktop for about 7 months now. It was working perfectly until yesterday but now it won't power on when I press the power button. I haven't touched any part so it's hard imagine what could go wrong. I checked anyway that all cords are firmly connected. Can someone help me with this?

There is simply nothing when I press the power button. No beeping, no fan, no light. I tried unplugging all other hardware still no luck of getting anywhere.

Can you please post the full specs from your orders page?

Unfortunately, because that PC was pre-assembled, the critical components (PSU, MB, and Case) were most likely not state-of-the-art.

Really silly thing to check (but worth it) you've not accidently knocked the switch on the back of the PSU (where the plug goes into the PC) to the off position?

Failing that - take the PC to a different plug socket and try that, I'd also take a look inside the PC when its plugged on to see if there are any signs of life at all (you mentioned in post 2 there are not so this is a long shot).

Thanks guys. I bought it on Currys, here are the specs:

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B760-PLUS D4
Storage: 1 TB SSD
Processor:
- Intel® Core™ i7-12700F Processor
- 12-core
- 2.1 GHz / 4.9 GHz
- 25 MB cache
RAM:
- 16 GB DDR4 (3600 MHz)
- 128 GB maximum installable RAM
Graphics card:
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
- 12 GB GDDR6

I also tried unplugging everything and switch off the PSU overnight and tried it again the next morning. It didn't work either. No signs of life. Is there anything I could do by myself to make sure whether it's a problem with the power unit or the mother board (I hope not).

Immediate guess is going to be the PSU. How old is it? Are you still under Curry's warranty?

When you turn the PC on I would expect an LED to show power on the motherboard.

You will need to register the PC with PCSpecialist to get support here though as there's not much we can do without the full spec of the system. If you call PCS with your curry's order detail you should be able to have it added to your account. You can then post up the spec for us.

Folks I found the solution. I removed the lithium battery from the motherboard (I had to also remove the GPU to expose that) and waited for about 15 seconds and then put it back on. It worked. I think the issue is the motherboard needs its static electricity to be discharged. Not sure whether this is a design defect...

I hope it'll keep working just as fine... Please let me know if there's any other thing I need to do to keep it in a good state.

Now when it boots up, it makes 1 long and then 3 short beeps from the motherboard. And then the PC would appear to be working normally. Any idea what might be causing this?

Sounds like the normal ASUS motherboard beeps for when it can't initially find a monitor. Is the monitor powered up when you boot your PC?
