I tried to download GTA V, and it got to 100% and loaded, then a windows pop up came up and said it was installing something onto the C drive and I had to restart and i did. Now my pc is constantly beeping and saying restarting, then a pc specialist logo pops up and said press any key to skip C: drive scanning. Then sometimes it will say scanning and repairing C: drive . Then it says restarting , then it goes black and beeps and goes to the pc specialist logo. I pressed F12 for boot options and selected the first one and it’s saying Checking media presence , media present , start HTTP boot over IPv4 and saying error. It bring up the boot menu again and when I click x it brings me back to the checking media prescience . I clicked for the boot device windows and now it’s doing the same thing on the beeping and restarting loop. I’ve got no clue what’s happening someone please help 😭😭 I don’t know if it’s a virus or what 😭 this is my brand new PC and I’ve got no idea what to do 😭😭😭

Which launcher? You'll need to be a bit more specific with your answering as any detail can be important. Different launchers cause different issues.

If it was downloaded via the Rockstars website and installed via the launcher then it won't be a virus, the only way it could be a virus would be if it was downloaded via a torrent.

If it's all official then it sounds like an issue with the drive. Is your system from the spec below?:

When you press F12, what are the boot options?

You want to choose the last option. intel SSD. Not sure why all the IP options are coming up for you as the primaries. Seems the boot options have been messed up.

Not sure, something has been messed around. Are you sure all you did was press F12? You've not gone into the bios at any point and changed any of the boot settings?

The options you're being given with F12 seems very peculiar to me, as if something has been changed in the BIOS config. Without knowing what has been changed and what impact those changes have made it's very difficult to guide you.

I think the best thing to do now would be to download Windows onto a USB key and start from scratch.

Could I not just remove the SSD?

You can attempt to remove it and re-seat it. It would be unlikely that it will do anything but it's definitely worth a shot. When we have seen these issues before it tends to show right at the start, rather than down the line after some usage.

Given the options you are seeing it suggests something has been misconfigured with the boot config. Without being hands on or having more coherent information (not your fault, it's just you won't really know how to articulate what I would need to know) I wouldn't know where to begin guiding you.

I think @Scott Is bang on here (no surprise). Your best bet is to do a clean install of windows.
Ah, and on Christmas Day too. Well I guess that is the only way. Luckily I don’t think it’s too major , just the operating system and the SSD. I’ll get a boot drive on another USB and try a clean install. Thanks for the help

Pretend I’m a pc specialist and ask me all the fancy questions , and I’ll try to answer. But just now it’s not even going into BIOS

Where are your games installed, hopefully not on the C drive, a clean install should take about half an hour to get up and running, including loading all the updates, then once all updates including ALL the optional ones are installed and GPU driver downloaded and installed then see what happens

I don’t think I can do that, and it’s a new PC so im not to bothered about the stuff. Only thing I would be concerned about doing is installing drivers, it seems complicated but I wouldn’t know where it start. I might just take it into a shop or use YouTube for a tutorial. I’m not good with these thing but my brother is, I’ll see if he can help
