Alright.

On the 27th of May, 2011 I began to rent a VPS package from 1and1. A couple of days later, on the 31st of May I rang up and cancelled the service due to financial concerns, I still hadn't even been charged the setup fee or the first months fee (nor had I recieved an invoice) so I also contacted them in regards to having not been charged yet and if it technically meant I had been refunded. I recieved an e-mail back stating that I could not be refunded for already paid invoices... Later that day I recieved an invoice from them to my e-mail stating that the relevant funds would be charged to my paypal account.

I was also told that as of the 1st of June, my domain would be handed back to the registrar, Nominet and that the domain would still remain in my posession HOWEVER I would have to manage the domain through Nominet. After waiting for the domain to be transferred to Nominet, a few days later I attempted to login on Nominets site so I could cancel the renewal of my domain name, I couldn't log in as my account didn't exist anymore, I did a WhoIS search and found that my domain no longer exists. I contacted Nominet and they informed me that the domain name was cancelled as they had recieved no payment from 1and1 or myself.

Now, it's the 9th of June, I still haven't been charged. I really don't know where I stand, isn't there a minimum period that a company must charge someone in for a cancelled service?

Do I even actually owe them any money given they effectively deleted both the VPS and the domain name (immediately after I cancelled) before I was billed at all?
