Here's the build, it's for gaming at 4K and near/at 60fps and also for using modelling and rendering programs such as Maya and Unreal Engine 4. Thanks! If you're wondering why I only have a second monitor, it's because the 4K monitor I want for the PC is mostly undecided. I'm considering 144hz HDR IPS 4K monitors in the future if they're viable. I can probably stretch to about £3700-£3800 if necessary.

The spec seems fine.

I'd probably go for a 960 Evo M.2 SSD if spending that much on the system already.

The 8700k would offer very competitive performance in Maya and Unreal, going by:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-coffee-lake-i7-8700k-cpu,5252-9.html
and probably be a fair bit cheaper.

I would be very reluctant to put that kind of hardware into a View 27. Its default fan config isn't great anyway and this is very hot hardware going in there. I'd suggest a better case like a Fractal Define S, Corsair Carbide 540, or Corsair Crystal 460x.

Are you saying you won't buy a 4k monitor until they're available?

They won't be available for a little while, by which time new GPUs like volta may well be available, and it would seem like a very bad use of cash to get a pair of 1080 tis and not really use them before they're already obsolete.

Going for a build with an 8th generation processor saves a lot of money, and even more power. It’s worth going for the 8700K, it can also be overclocked to a pretty high clock speed. I may even put in 64GB RAM, Tech Support said that it’ll run very well, but is not essential. Thanks Ouessebon!

Also, what’s the likelihood that the Titan Xp is gonna become obsolete? Not gonna get two of them, but could one run 4K60 on, for example, Grand Theft Auto V?

Other specs for this example include the i7 8700K (overclocked to 4.8ghz) and 64GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM :p

For 4k gaming I'd strongly suggest a pair of 1080 tyis over a Titan Xp.

In general they'd give much better performance.

A single 1080 ti would be more than capable of delivering 4k performance for GTAV:

Perhaps stick to a single 1080 ti for your rendering and gaming uses, which will be a good starting point for 4k gaming, and you can upgrade again in due course if you get a new monitor, either with SLI or a new gen of GPU depending on what they're like.

Titan Xp costs as much as a pair of 1080 tis, and if Volta is indeed announced at the end of March as rumoured, it would be a bit of a waste of cash I'd say. Not to mention that if you get a 144hz 4k monitor later in the year and want to SLI up for it, it would cost twice as much to get another Titan Xp as a 1080 ti.

64gb RAM seems like it might be excessive for your needs. RAM is very expensive right now, so if 32gb is likely to be enough it may be best to stick to that.
