Spec for a new PC

Hi, I need a new PC, but having already bought a laptop from pcspeccialist (which I'm very pleased with) I have to keep the costs down, under £700 if at all possible. It needs to be an all round machine. I'll want to play some games, but nothing more taxing than skyrim. I'll be doing a bit of video editing too. Here are the specs.

I'm not sure about the graphics card. It had to be a 1-slot card because I need a wireless card and also a firewire card, and slots appear to be limited with this spec. Maybe a different case would solve that?

I have a couple of other questions: 1) Will my old monitor (with a 15-pin connector) be compatible? 2) Is it possible to have XP rather than Win 7? I know XP is only going to be supported for two more years, I just don't like Windows 7. 3) Is there a combination of hardward that is better at giving backwards compatibility with older programs than others? That would suit my requirements more than the latest technology.

Ok this is my last attempt to get some advice, lol. This is very much a budget PC, but it's all I can afford right now.

Just a few simple questions:

Will this run Skyrim at acceptable levels of detail? I don't want to play Skyrim particulalrly, it's just a benchmark.
Is the networking on Windows 7 Home OK or should I go for Pro (forget the XP idea). I'll be running a home network.
Of the three setups I've posted, is anyone better than the others, or should I swap any components around? Especially, CPU, motherboard and graphics card, I'm confused by all the options. I'm happy with the case and other components.

Case
COOLERMASTER SILEO 500 QUIET MID TOWER CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD A6-3650 APU (2.6GHz, 4 Cores) & AMD Radeon™ HD 6530D Graphics
Motherboard
ASUS® F1A75-M: FM1 A-SERIES, SATA 6.0GB/s, USB 3.0
Memory (RAM)
8GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB)
Graphics Card
1GB AMD RADEON™ HD6570 - DVI,HDMI,VGA - DX® 11
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
250GB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 16MB CACHE
2nd Hard Disk
1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply

Thanks for the advice. I went for AMD to save a bit of money so I could have a second drive. I like to keep the OS separate from as much else as possible. When it goes wrong (and it always does) it keeps pain to a minimum. Is there a good AMD CPU/motherboard/graphics card combination for what I want? With Intel as a base I would need to rein back on the graphics card you suggest because I need the slot for something else. I could save £24 on the case but I'm still over budget with Intel. Best I can do is this:

Case
COOLERMASTER SILEO 500 QUIET MID TOWER CASE
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5 Quad Core Processor i5-3450 (3.1GHz) 6MB Cache

Graphics Card
1GB AMD RADEON™ HD6570 - DVI,HDMI,VGA - DX® 11
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 16MB CACHE
2nd Hard Disk
1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply
450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£29)
Processor Cooling
SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE INTEL CPU COOLER (£19)
