I move around a lot in my work so my Skyfire V follows me around on planes, airports, hotels, thrown in cars etc.
  • It's always in a nice padded Timbuktu bag
  • there is a special section in the bag for laptops so chargers etc are in a separate bit
  • I don't remember any impact that created this - but it was whilst travelling the other day

So I'm just getting the files off it at the moment (which is easy because it is Linux) - one of the difficulties is that you can't change the screen to use the HDMI port fully (using hot keys or BIOS etc) because laptop still believes the laptop screen is fine. This will be winging its way back to PCS shortly to get a new screen.

Skyfire V (2013) vs Ultranote IV LE (2017)
  • have the same screen
  • the Ultranote IV LE webcam works (Skyfire one never worked in linux)
  • Skyfire V had Optimus graphics, I'm not a gamer, so this was just a royal pain in the arse to setup with linux. I used bumblebee in the end which worked well. rarely used the nvidia graphics.
  • ultranote IV LE is lighter
  • SkyFire V had a black shiny shell that always looked dusty for some reason
  • SkyFire V fan can get noisy at times, Ultranote IV LE seems very quiet so far
