q: would the hd be better as the 1.5TB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 32MB CACHE (7200rpm) or will it not make much of a differance.

What would be using the pc for? Anyway you should take the silver warranty, and possibly chnge the hard drive to caviar green as its got 64mb cache. And whats your budget? That way other people could suggest alternative specs

This spec is slightly over your budget but its got a better graphics card, better hard drive and sliver warranty, the only thing I'm not sure about it how the i5-760 compares against AMD PHENOM II X4 955 performance wise but I guess it should be similar

you could get a 6850 instead of GTX460 for £2 more for better performance for that gaming

GTX 460 would be a better choice for photoshop and video editing, and transcoding using badaboom. (It has CUDA cores which help with this sort of task which ATI completely lacks).

Dont forget to download the Photoshop CUDA plugin if you go this route :)

dont use photoshop so that doesn't matter lol. ordered it now. thanks for the advise. (went for the amd graphic card cause i thought they might get on better with the processor being by the same manufacturer)
