get one 580, as it can run everything at max out now, and later down the line get another 580.

As having two 6970 when you come to upgrading it means spending a fortune!

Many thanks for your input,
I did lots of research in deciding on the GFX setup, I found benchmarks that show 2 X 6970 were not that far behind 2 X 580's and at a fraction of the price. The 6970 cards scale exceptionally well in crossfire so my hope is that they will still be pumping out FPS for a good few years.
