Thunderbolt 3 on the '15.6" OCTANE II' ?

Thunderbolt 3 on the '15.6" OCTANE III' ?

Hi everyone, I have a question about the '15.6 OCTANE III' laptop, so if anyone has one, used one or just knows it would be super helpful.

I emailed the tech support guys at pcspecialist if they had a laptop with Thunderbolt 3, not just USB 3.1 via USB-C and was told no, but I've seen on this page:

"Thunderbolt™ (via USB 3.1)" is stated.

Now I'm aware there can be confusion when it comes to USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3. I'm after TB3 technology for the likes of eGpu and multi monitor displays/VR as I'm a game developer and need the ability to plug an external GPU in for showcase events where the integrated cards are not going to be enough, maybe not so much right now as the 1070 will most likely eat most things thrown at it, but definitely looking to the future when working with 4k & VR.

Thunderbolt 3 - 40Gb/s
USB 3.1 - 10Gb/s

USB-C being the actual physical port.

So hopefully I've explained that well enough, is anyone on here clued up on this laptop/board to tell me if it is indeed Thunderbolt 3 as I'm not aware they have made a USB-C which uses any other Thunderbolt versions? E.G. TB2 at 20Gb/s.

On the detailed specs it states:

1 x USB 2.0 port
3 x USB 3.0 ports (USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A)
1 x USB 3.1 Gen2 port (Type-C)
1 x USB 3.1 Gen2 port (Type-C) Thunderbolt Combo Port

But I can't find any further info on what version of thunderbolt.

The motherboard is proprietary so I doubt you'd be able to find anything on that, the only other thing I can suggest is to search for an operators manual or give PCS a call directly to discuss.

Yeah that was my initial problem.

I may have to ring them and explain the query but I'm not holding my breathe, as I said there is A LOT of confusion around these port types and without someone actually having tried it I don't think I'm going to get a definite answer.

The motherboard can't be developed in house its basically a Clevo system re-branded is it not ?

It is a clevo yes, worth looking up a vlevo manual which you should be able to find at www.clevo.com.tw

So I've emailed Clevo directly now and found what supposedly is the manual for chassis models P7xxDM/P7xxDM-G

Which from PCS themselves is essentially the Clevo P751DM2-G
Manual.png

But still this is not exclusively a manual for the Clevo P751DM2-G
