Evening all

I received today my nice new Vortex 2 17 laptop :DD

However, there appears to be 1 single pixel that simply will not go away. It is about 2cm from the top of the screen, right in the centre, and appears to be light blue in colour.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i might get rid of it/ask it to move politely?

If i cant get is sorted through suggestions, then i will call PCS in the morning

Thanks

Sounds like a dead pixel and if so it can't be fixed. Not sure what PCSs policy is on dead pixels - a lot of manufacturers regard 1 or 2 dead pixels as 'normal'. You need to ring PCS and find out.

Just a quick update on the pixel front.

I spoke to Paul over the phone on technical support (very helpful) and due to the ISO standards etc. the screen cannot be replaced for free.

This i expected, as it is only one pixel. I am happy to pay the £49 for a new screen, and if i did, then i would take out the 1 year pixel guarantee for it. But going on the basis that it has now gone from light blue to pink, it may very well dissapear.

It it refuses to budge, then ill get a new one later in the year (hopefuly prices wont go up)

Hi Pete, thanks for the info.

I think it was Graham i spoke to on live chat before hand, and he sent me some link to some software. Ive given it a go. Its just basically calours rapidly changing over specific areas of the screen.

I should also point out to prospective customer of PCS that although i would be charged for the screen, they are happy to collect and return the laptop for free, which i think is amazing customer service.

Just a side note, I believe what you have is referred to as a stuck pixel rather than a dead pixel. A dead pixel has no output and just displays as black (OFF).

I also believe for any prospective customers for whom it is vital to have a perfect screen at all times, that PCS now offer (or are soon going to) a screen warranty that specifically covers pixel defects. This I am pretty sure was mentioned in a thread last week, however Im not sure of the link (im at work so dont have time to search sorry)

You are correct Frenchy, i beleive it is called a hot pixel. A dead pixel is black and a hot pixel shows a colour i belive (although not certain)

PCS also do offer a pixel guarantee. I think it is £19 for the year. I was to purchase a new screen at £49 then im sure i could come to an agreement with PCS over coverage for that particular screen for an aditional cost of the guarantee.
