Two brothers starting a project, HELP

Hello PC specialist forum,

By the sounds of you forum name it looks like I am in the perfect place to get the help I am needing. I and my brother have been gaming together for years and loved every minute of it. We play anything from First person shooters, Stratagy and the odd simulation here and there. So far we have only been using gaming consoles or computers that we had brought ready made from the shop. Although these work well there are still limits to what you can do with the consoles we have.

So, we have been looking into building our own desktop with all the top of the range specs so it will do just about anything that we want it to but, we have no clue where to start. Maybe a little ambishious, I'm not sure, but you have to start somewhere. In terms of the parts we will be needing I'm not 100% clueless but I will still be needing help. For example, I know that Nvidia in the link below have the best graphics cards but which one to use i have no idea... and the list pretty much goes on like that.

There are plenty videos online of people building these PC's and as long as we have the right tools and parts everything should be fine. So we thought that it would be best to buy all the componbents that is going to make this awesome computer and the get it put together. To sum everything up, Would you guys please give me a list of you opinion on what would make the ultimate gaming desktop and the rough price of how much this is going to hit the bank, I'm not expecting it to be cheap...

Really looking forward to speaking with you guys and seeing what set-ups are best!!

Thanks

These forums belong to PC Specialist, who build and sell custom built PCs and laptops. As such, users aren't allowed to give advice on competitors' specs or self build projects (for obvious reasons I guess).

There are plenty of open forums out there, such as Tom's Hardware, Anandtech, Linus Tech Tips, where I'm sure the communities will be only to happy to discuss self builds.

If you wanted to see options of custom built specs from PCS, just set out your budget (and the kind of monitor you're looking to use - resolution, refresh rate etc) and I'm sure people can suggest possible specs - either for you to consider as alternatives to self builds or just to get a sense of what's out there in terms of systems.

For a generic 'ultimate system' I'd have thought round about ~£2000 for the PC itself should do it. :)

Are you based in the US, if so PCS don't ship to the US, only UK and Europe.

Plus if you're in the USA, $2000 probably buys you a lot more hardware than $2000 here (as in Europe, not just PC Specialist), since prices here would include tax and also be calculated on European hardware prices.

£2000 inc VAT / $2000 exc VAT would be something like:
