Unfortunate

Hi,All

Had been excited last few days anticipating when my new laptop may come. Being in Pre-production - 8th working day today. Having ordered Cosmos 2 17.3" on 31/12/13 I figured it would take a few weeks max.

Well got an email today thinking was good news from them not, saying:

"Sadly due to being let down by the supplier of the chassis for your order we will not be able to complete your order without a delay, we have only been informed of this today. The chassis is due on the 28/01/2014 -Clevo W670SHQ1 (2GB GT-740M )

Perhaps I'm being naive in thinking that when states 12-14 days etc Laptop be delivered on site when I was ordereing. That I believed it ,even worse case 21 days I can accept.

I passed on ordereing a Lenovo Z500 on amazon due to me being very impressed with how professionally they came across, especially with the feedback received . Was Hoping would be easily here by time I go for my trip to London on 25th January . But by the looks of it could be 6-8 weeks.

I've since emailed asking wether thers some way to fix this or alternatively perhaps be compensated somehow. Is ther some way to upgrade that part or somethink. to get it here sooner.

response: sadly all of these chassis and variants are arriving on the same shipment and that is what has been delayed, we cannot even switch you to the slightly different model – if this was an option it would have been offered. We have not done this on purpose but also cannot compensate in this circumstance, there is sadly not similar model around the same price point or specification that is either vastly cheaper or vastly more expensive – we have literally let you know as soon as we have been informed of the delay.

Personally I feel kind of lead astray by details on site stating delivery times on laptops ie 100% in 28 days and unfortunately the way mines going it could be double that 56 days I'm afraid.
Understand others on here have had more difficult experiences. But nevertheless still feel hard done by on principal of it all unfair. Didnt expect this at all.

Cheers Paul

This isn't PCS fault, they don't make those parts personally so it's not up to them when they can get the parts, they never intended this to happen and as unfortunate it is that it did its out of their control and all they can do is wait for new parts to be delivered so they can work on your laptop, it feels like you're blaming PCS when it's 100% out of their control for when the parts come.

I sympathise with you Paul27,you've been very unlucky and must feel very disappointed.
Not sure what can be done about it though, unless PCS can offer you something similar that might suit you?

Hello there Paul,

My apologies for the delay in your order, we are sorry you feel lead astray. The majority of our orders are completed within the estimated lead time, sadly due to the manufacturers slightly updating their chassis, it caused the delay in shipment to us. As soon as we were made aware of this issue we contacted all customers to avoid lengthy delays without any communication from us. Against sadly as my colleagues have informed you all the COSMOS chassis around your specification are on that same shipment otherwise we would have happily worked through a change to an alternative chassis.

I am not in the office until Monday, but I will have a look into your order then and see if there is any thing we can do.

to be fair, its out of PCS's control if a supplier cant get the stock delivered.

It is PCSs fault for selling a system they do not have in stock. When was the delivery expected to arrive?

Why not put that model out of stock until the shipment arrives? I can still order a Cosmos 2 and it gives a build time of 10-12 working days. So according to PCS there is no issue with this model.
The buyer has every right to feel aggrieved, and the 'PCS did nothing wrong' apologists are a tad naive.

If you actually read the email he was given they specifically said - "we was only informed of this today" so how would it be their fault if they had no idea of this until the 8th working day and when he ordered the Cosmos they thought they'd of had the stock on time as usual.

Unfortunately sometimes suppliers let you down. At one point last year at work we were desperate for featheredge (I work in the Timber trade), our usual supplier was stacked out for about a month so we bought an artic load from a different sawmill who told us we could take delivery the following week. We finally received the delivery 5 weeks later, every week we heard a different excuse why we hadn't received it yet, meanwhile we were passing on the information (our suppliers had told us) to our customers, and every week that went by we looked more and more unprofessional as if we were the ones in the wrong.

Seriously?

PCS sold a laptop they did not have in stock. It took 8 working days for them to realise they couldn't supply what the customer ordered. I don't think an 8 day wait is reasonable. I don't think PCS waiting on a crate of laptops arriving in Dover counts as 'pre-production'.

The fact that PCS has no idea (your words) 8 day after they took the customer's money says a lot about them as a company.

Why hasn't PCS updated their website? Customers ordering the Cosmos today won't be aware or the potential delay. Is that being honest?

So you will agree that the supplier (PCS) has let their customer down?

Yes they have, but as was the case in the situation I posted before it was an issue out of their hands.
To me the fact that they contacted the affected customers as soon as they were aware of the issue shows decent customer service.

A business like PC Specialist who is constantly dealing with expensive items is not going to keep a lot of stock at their premises as that would destroy their cash flow. Instead they will be relying on regular deliveries from their suppliers, more often than not this works perfectly however sometimes something will go wrong, for example: if a laptop chassis is being imported from Taiwan, bad weather over there could prevent the ship from leaving on time which would delay things.

It would mean a great deal if you could, very much appreciated MoosEh

Thanks for support Stumour and stating it so "Very Clearly For Everyone" . Just totally underwhelmed by it all.

I used work as for material co-ordinator for Jaguar I know when parts run out & various problems arise and most importantly aware of is that when a company can't deliver on time or to its advertised schedule that at the very least they have the character to compensate for it.

I shouldnt have to come on here to put it forward or to ask!

I mostly want Laptop for playing online casino etc, alot of work related browsing, watching movies, maybe get into gaming little try the odd new game, use consoles at mo.

And mostly a fairly powerful replacement for my desktop with good battery life ie medium beast gets things done fast.I am considering cancelling my order. And maybe ordering a pre-build laptop.

But I'm little apprenhensive with gaming laptops were battery life is concerned.. don't seem very sustainable, which is to be expected

of course, dreaded windows 8 doesnt fill me with confidence either, prefer window7.I'm just trying get alternative idea's solve this situation get laptop quickly as headache.

Either the optimus v 15.6 or 17.3 and If I was only using optimus v 17.3 for what I suggested? how would it fair next to the cosmos2? in terms battery life

as heard some feedback on fans being noisy issues etc

I'm bit torn making this decision at moment as it was the cosmos2 ordered like..in two minds wether to change the processor to i7 Quad Core 4700mq 2.40ghz 6mb
if it would help get laptop here sooner or might do it anyway.

Says battery life up to 6 hours cosmos2. Have'nt noticed any feedback from cosmos2 17.3 users on there opinion of the battery life?
might seem silly question but would i7 bring battery life down ? versus i5? guessing would

Many Thanks In Advance
