Upgrading just about any component, from the CPU to HDD to screen is relatively easy, reasonably priced and straightforward. Upgrading the GPU is harder because you will need to remove the existing GPU and we would have to order in a new GPU specially for you. We don't hold stock of the GPUs separately.
Normally we charge a £36 collection and re-delivery charge and them you would need to pay for the GPU - at todays rates this would be approx. £560 inc VAT for the 580M.
So even a relatively easy upgrade such as RAM and HDD will require the customer to send the computer back to the retailer and not attempt it himself in order to not void the warranty? The warranty is the one that concerns me and I need a solid confirmation. Thank you!
Will I void my warranty if I open the case and install my own components?
Unlike with most computer manufacturers, we allow you to open the case and install your own components. Providing you install these correctly, and you do not damage your computer during or as a result of installing your own components, your warranty will still be valid. We do not provide any method of support for these components, both during installation or in use, and any warranty returns that are caused by your own components will be chargeable for both labour and return costs. If you have to return your computer to us for any reason we strongly recommend the prior removal of these components, as we cannot be held responsible for them.
My reply at 14:57 was intended for doombug - you must have posted while I was typing.
Desktops are easy to upgrade - we will happily upgrade your desktop of send out the parts for you to install yourself.
We would be happy to post out RAM/HDD to you to upgrade yourself without voiding the warranty. Please note this extract from our FAQ section:
Basically - we will support the upgrades we supply, and your warranty will stand providing you don't damage your computer as a result of the upgrade.
