USB 3.0 help

I was recently thinking about buying an external hard drive which comes with a usb 3.0 cable, do you have to have a usb 3.0 port to work at it's full speed?
and how would you go about finding about whether you have a usb 3.0 port?

check if your motherboard supports USB 3.0, pretty sure it does.

Just checked the manual and it has 2 3.0 Ports on the back panel thanks!

Typically USB ports look blue when compared to normal USB 2.0 ports - just as a really quick check



USB 2.0 on left, USB 3.0 on right

To use your USB 3.0 external drive at full speed you would indeed need a USB 3.0 port though!
