USB 3.0 Problem

Morning everyone,

I'm just in the process of cleaning out my PC for the first time since I received it, and since using it have not had the ability of using the USB 3.0 ports on the front of the storm trooper case. I just thought maybe they didn't connect them up during the build or they're not supported ( I know that sounds unlikely).

But I've just this minute noticed a cable which is unplugged from the motherboard and it is hovering above a 'sky blue' socket with 'USB 3.0 next to it, I assume this is the problem?

I would just like to know whether everyone thinks this has been left unplugged on purpose or whether it just got knocked out during transit?

A few notes:

The socket is just above the 'Graphics Card' and just below a larger socket which I assume is the main power to the motherboard (far right hand-side) if this helps with answering my question.

thanks.

As your motherboard has USB 3.0 ports you should be able to use the USB 3.0 ports on the front of the storm trooper by connecting a cable from one to the other.
Can you see if the cable you mention is going to the front USB ports,if so I would try connecting it to the motherboard.

I followed where the cable routes through and it appears to follow the rest of the cables that are routed up towards the front panel.

I've plugged it in, I'll see when I fire it up again whether I've now got working USB 3 upfront.

Thanks for the reply, I'll post later whether its working.

thanks again

All set-up again and both USB ports on the front panel work fine.

Solved that problem...

Thanks again for the reply Vanthus.

Where should the cable be that needs plugged in? My friend received his PC today and the front USB ports don't work so I can just assume that PCS did not plug in the cable, where is the cable likely to be?

After taking off the PC's side panel, as you look at the motherboard the socket (light blue) should be half way down the right-hand side of the motherboard. The cable or plug that goes into this is black with two cables acting as a splitter due to their being two USB ports.

Keep in mind that I'm referring to USB 3.0 ports. If your friends ports are the USB 2.0 ports which are currently not working then from what I looked at earlier that port is along the very bottom.

I'm using an 'ASUS P8Z77 - v lx'

I hope that helps, give me a shout if you have problems still.

Just a quick answer to this question,we alway's connect the front USB 3.0 header from the front of the case to the motherboard if it is indeed supported,it will never be left unplugged on purpose,I am sorry on this occasion as for some reason the system builder did'nt do so.
