Valeon 17.3” laptop. USB-c video not outputting.

Great laptop and still quick despite it being 3 years old. I’m sure the usb c output worked in the past. Mainly used hdmi historically. I have a top notch usbc to usbc cable (both data and video 4K @ 144mhz).

Trying to get IPS 18” portable monitor to work in this config. Tried HDMI into monitor from laptop and it’s 100% working. USB-c 0% working! Been driving me mad. Help! Thanks.

Please remove your windows key before it's stolen

Do you have a link to the cable? There's a big difference between Thunderbolt and USB C, although they use the same port, they aren't compatible.

What make and model screen are you plugging into?

USB C used Display Port over USB to output video

Have you checked in the monitor settings what the monitor input is set to, also according to the manufacturer website one of the usb c ports is for laptop connection and the other for power delivery

Thanks Martinr36.
Yes, I've tried all the combinations on the usb-c ports on the monitor - power / signal inputs. As I said, the HDMI input works right off the bat.

I also have a similar portable monitor (15") with the same combination of inputs which I've also tested - same result. HDMI, yes. USB-C, No.

Seems to suggest that either the usb-c port is dud or the cable is shot so no signal arriving at the monitor end, but I've also tested using the usb-c cable(s) supplied with the monitor(s), same same.

Didn't mention that I've upgraded (upgrade?) to Windows 11 a few weeks ago - could this be a factor? 🤔

UPDATE: Tested the usb-c port with a wireless iPhone charger and direct connect to iPhone with Apple cable = no power. I think the usb-c port has died?

Check in device manager, see if anything has a yellow triangle against it and post a screenshot here, when you upgraded to W11 how did you you do it, did you do it in place from W10 or did you do it as a clean install of W11, the latter is preferable, and did you install all optional updates

Just to confirm, you’ve got the USBC for the pc output and the USB C power cable connected at the same time?

Yes, correct. Had to dive in and open up the laptop case. Once opened up and powered on the usb-c port started to power the iPhone directly connected with cable?!?

Thought, OK cool. Closed up laptop case, all screwed back in, powered up and re-connected iPhone. Nothing - no power.

Time to give up or see if there's someone who may be able to fix it? Not me!
