Vortex 3 - Maximum Resolution via DisplayPort

Hi all, I'm a long-time lurker on the forum.

I've been Googling around a lot for the last few days but I can't find a definitive answer so I was hoping someone might know.

I currently have a Vortex 3 and it's been a really good laptop and I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon.
Currently has a i7-3630 with the Intel 4000 and an nVidia 680m.

Anyway, I'm looking to purchase a new external monitor. For years I've been running a 24" Dell 2407-HC with a max resolution of 1920x1200. It really has been a fabulous monitor and still produces a solid picture 7 years on, but I need something just a shade bigger now as the PC is also used for movie watching.

I've always had desktops with meaty cards so this is not a problem I've ever had to concern myself with before, but does anybody know what the maximum resolution this machine can drive via the DisplayPort is? My research suggests 2560x1600 and conveniently we have a few 30" displays in work so I'm going to take my PC in next week to check it out but a definitive answer would be great.

I originally wanted the 34" LG 34UM95-P with it's mad 3440x1440 resolution, but the PC simply doesn't have the horsepower to drive something like that anyway.
Alternatively I was looking at:
Dell U3014 - 2560x1600
Samsung LS32D - 2560x1440
LG 34UM65 - 2560x1080

The resolution bump should only add about a 30% extra strain on the 680m but the LG caught my eye because movies will scale beautifully.
Any thoughts?

I removed the links you posted because they were for competitor sites, these are not allowed.

Display port 1.2 can display 4K @ 60Hz so the display port shouldn't have any problem with the resolutions you're looking at. I guess the thing to consider though is what you're going to use it for, if gaming, the 680m might not be enough to drive a game at an acceptable framerate at 2560x1440/1600. Of course, if you're happy enough to turn down some settings it will cope I'm sure. Just a consideration.

For 'normal use' (office type work) it should be fine though :)

My apologies for the links, I guess I was being dense and wasn't thinking. Yeah generally the monitor will be used for movies and general trolling with the odd games and I figured the 680m just doesn't have the clout anymore to drive the latest games at that level. Though I guess it depends on the game and leaves plenty of room for expansion. :whistling:

Anyway I tried the laptop in a HP ZR30w in work and did 2560x1600@60hz no problem via the display port so there's my definitive answer.
Also gave me an opportunity to get a definitive answer on this - the P170EM cannot drive 3 monitors. I can however disable the onboard monitor and use two external ones.
