Hey I've been reading lately about glossy and matte screens and I wonder comparing the screens pcspecialists sells that come with vortex 3 (17 inch) which is the better one with richer colors for indoors?, I am not sure if I should spend the extra buck for matte screen when I can just upgrade the ssd from 120gb to 240gb.

For indoor use keep the glossy screen as it's brighter. Matte screens are best for environments where there is a lot of glare, (i.e. outside).

OK... THIS HAS REALLY SCREWED MY HEAD UP!!!!

I'm very sad that the 95% gamut matte isn't available on the 17.3, but had accepted the 72% would have to do.

I was dead cert I wanted a matte screen from the outset, because I got very fed up with glare and reflections on my Alienware m17x glossy.... and that WAS indoors! Very rarely would I use a laptop outside, but with patio doors/natural light I still found it a problem.

However, now I've read this I'm unsure... is this matte screen noticeably dimmer than the glossy version, even with its mere 60% gamut? Do you think I would be disappointed with gaming on the matte screen, or is it still fairly vibrant?

Don't want to spend £2k on a machine and get a screen I'm not happy with!

yeah but from PCS's answer he made it kinda straight forward . Glossy screen will have brighter display + better and more vibrant colors so its seems perfect for indoors unless you are going to use it outside then get the matte.

I don't know but in some videos it really looks like matte has better colors I don't know why but even indoors it made me think harder now ! still not sure :(

I have to admit that this confuses me as well - when I called and asked about this I was told to always go with the Matte option since the quality of the image will be so much better, no matter what. So I upgraded to it. However, now it sounds as if that might not be true... Any chance we could get a 'final' answer on this? I will never use this laptop outside, it is purely for gaming indoors (it will see plenty of hotel rooms), so what is the 'best' screen for that?

Thanks for that... very interesting.
However, it's talking exclusively about Macbook glossy vs matte screens, which are undoubtedly one of the best components of Apple products. I imagine these PC screens offered by PCS are quite different, though hopefully the same principals apply.
I wish I knew what % gamut the Macbook matte screens are (can't seem to find it anywhere), because they are beautiful... and if the one I get on my Vortex 17.3 is a similar quality, there'll be no question for me.

I went with glossy one after hearing from 99 percent of people on the internet that for gaming the quality and color is much better than on the matte screen . I am going to use it indoors anyways so I don't mind the small reflections, Most of the time I can't really even see any to be honest on my 5 years old acer...
