Vortex II dead > Fried motherboard? repair options?

I bought Vortex II in 2011 from PCS. It was running great until tonight. I took it to work as usual and it just died when I started playing Shadow Warrior. I heard spark sound and it just switched off. It doest turn on now. Only thing that happens is when I take out the power plug out and try to put it back It sparks!

Is my motherboard fried? what are my options? Since I bought the laptop in 2011 I dont think I am covered by warrenty with PCS. Is it possible to repair if I post it back? how much would it cost?

Kind regards
Stu.

The best thing to do is to contact PCS to request an RMA and they will let you know if it is possible or not.

What a great job you have! :)

It might be a battery problem rather than a motherboard problem. So try taking the battery (and the power cord) out, leave the laptop alone for 15 minutes or so (to allow any charge in capacitors to dissipate) and then plug the power cord back in (with the battery still out). If it doesn't spark see whether it boots. If it does you just need a new battery.

I tried with and without battery. it doesn't even turn on. I opened the cover and I've notice spark sound comes after I insert the battery. not every time but it does happen. guess I have to think of getting new laptop.
