Vortex II Sound

Hi all,
One day old laptop with sound volume problems. Volume is fine on itunes and PC games - full signal to speakers.
DVDs and Sky go, only max of 2 bars signal strength to speakers resulting in poor sound levels.

Any advice would be appreciated
