Vortex V 17.3" Dead Pixel and USB port issue

Hi All,

Recently purchased my Vortex IV 17.3" I have had it less than a month.

It has already been sent back under RMA once as the screen had patchy spots of light bleed.

Now I have a new problem. The USB 2 port has stopped working entirely, it doesnt even provide power to devices plugged into it, let alone windows detecting the devices. This appears to definitly be hardware problem.

Question to you Guys, Am i still within my rights to possibly either request a refund or have the laptop replaced entirely? I will have had the laptop for a Month on the 2nd July

Looks like this is a problem with P150SM laptops (what the Vortex IV is based on). There's an old thread on another site about it (and unfortunately no solution) here.

Luckily I don't have dead pixels or light bleed, but my USB 2.0 port doesn't work - mine provides power since USB sticks with an LED light up, but then the light goes after a couple of seconds and Windows 8.1 doesn't recognise it. It hasn't really bothered me since I use the USB 3.0 ports instead, but I think it is a hardware fault.

Had my Vortex IV for over a year now (so very unlikely I'll RMA), but only just stumbled upon this thread - you're not the only one!

Personally I'd RMA the laptop if its not working - PCS should fix it (or certainly be given the opportunity to). Without the RMA you could take a look inside the laptop and see if there is something obvious you can plug back in (etc.) but I would guess the USB ports are soldered down to the board on a laptop? Maybe I'm wrong but that sounds sensible to me...
