Vortex IV and Oculus rift

Hello. I recently read the news that Oculus Rift won't work well with most laptops if they use Nvidia Optimus as the hdmi output is connected to the integrated intel gpu not the better Nvidia gpu and max refresh rate is 60hz from the hdmi instead of the required 90hz for oculus?

I read that if Optimus can be disabled in the bios it should work ok. There's nothing in my bios to do this. I'm wondering if a bios update may help or if anyone knows if it's just not possible with the Vortex IV or P17SM-A motherboard hardware.

My current bios version is 1.03.03TPCS but I see firmware dated 13/5/15 in the Downloads section of the PC Specialist site.
GPU's in my laptop are Intel HD 4600 and Nvidia GTX 980m.

I assume HTC Vive will have the same problem.. :/

If you need to use the HDMI and its 'hard wired' to the intel output disabling optimus probably wont help? I'm just kind of thinking out loud, have no real experience with laptops but if there is a hard connection preventing the use of the Nvidia GPU when connected via HDMI then I don't think software tweaks are going to help unfortunately :(

You could get in touch with PCS who are likely more intimately familiar with the hardware in the Vortex and could confirm or deny the HDMI/intel hard wiring query? Which will help determine whether its possible or not...
