Vortex IV Upgrade options

Does anybody know what can be upgraded on the Vortex IV laptop?

I'm looking in case I decide I want to upgrade in the future, mostly things such as the Graphics card and the upgrade options for the graphics card are not available. When ordering initially there were multiple options and even now there are newer cards available for it. Is the GPU actually upgradable after purchase or are you stuck with the same one?

I noticed the same with the operating systems, only windows 7 available (Possibly lack of windows 8 licences?)

it is upgradable but depends on clevo releasing a BIOS update to allow for newer GPUs to support your chassis. It might be the case they are low in stock now.

Ahh I just find it odd that there are several GPUs to choose from when you are ordering but when you want to upgrade there are none

priority could be on newer builds rather than upgrading others.

I asked PCS about it. Apparently the Vortex IV cannot be upgraded in terms of GPU. Each GPU option comes with a different chasis. ITs a bit misleading but guess I should have researched it more before buying, if I ever want a better GPU I'll have to buy a new laptop

As for the secondary HDD I've been told the only secondary HDD options are the Tiny mSATA drives.

So it means if you got the Vortex IV with the 7xx series you can only upgrade within the series and it is not possible to get the 8xx series? Not even with a BIOS upgrade? I would have expected the chassis to be the same for the 8xx series.

I also find that quite surprising as you can now order the Vortex IV series with either the Latest AMD GPU or the Latest GTX800 Series GPU. I would call them up or email them again for a second opinion on that.

Configurator always lets me add a second HDD to the Vortex IV, i don't understand why you can't specify in for your spec.

I don't even thin it is within the 7xx series either. There are no upgrade options at all for the GPU. Here's what I was told -

For the graphics cards the options which were available at the time of purchase were different complete chassis, not just different cards unfortunately. We are unable to offer compatible cards for the chassis you have unfortunately.

Here's what I was told about the secondary HDD

You can have a second drive fitted to your laptop but only as an mSATA. There is only space for one standard hard drive.

I'm guessing the extra HDD would mean a different Chassis as well.

It's a bit disappointing really as the thing that attracted me was the the Laptops as well as desktops seemed upgradable. Especially with all the secondary options you are given when ordering the laptop. Either I didn't research it enough or it's not very clear.
