Hi Guys,

Sorry about the header, I wanted attention.
I need help. I'm a video editing freak and need a fast PC to fund my after effects and 3D rendering/modelling habbits.
oh.. and it needs to handle the one and only badly optimized video game I play, Grand theft auto IV. :smartass:

I've chosen the clevo as its a plain jane and I dont want people thinking i have a sports car for a pc (alienware)
Here's the spec i've chosen, ideally i'd like to spend just under a grand but this might be good, have I pushed it?
I'm a student.. (not asif it helps but now you know.)

Thanks in advance

Without the thermal paste the laptop will run hotter and will throttle the GPU.

The better HDD runs at 7200rpm instead of 5400rpm so is a lot quicker.

And the killer wifi card is best as there are driver problems with the standard one.

Hope this explains why each one is worth it :)

Hardcore Video Editor / Animation / + GTA IV ;)

Hi Guys,

After doing loads of research.. i'm just about ready to purchase.
Couldn't pick between 6gb 880m vs 4gb 780m.. apparently the 780m works out better in the end..but I'd like to hear your views.

Wanted to boost up the cpu but not sure if it's needed.. this is already my max budget..

I use alot of after effects & cinema 4D I do a little gaming.. probably only GTA IV ;)
sadly GTA IV is more cpu intensive so I'm hoping this will be enough!

Heres the spec.

I believe that the 880m is slightly better than the 780m overall (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html), I'm guessing the 880m would put you over budget though? All the other changes you have made in bold text are better choices over the original spec.

Right,
I upgraded to 8gb 880.. Seems like a beast :) ordered with quick delivery and dead pixel gurrantee but no insurance.. don't know if that makes a difference
It's just over my budget but im hoping it will be so amazingly amazing that i won't care :sailor:

Nice. The insurance is a monthly payment thing I believe, so if that's not your thing, then none is fine.

Get the 750gb scorpio black, the price difference is minimal (think it was £5 difference when I ordered my laptop).
